About the Process

Commissioned Murals are all about bringing your vision to life. Here is an overview of the steps we'll take:

1. Fill out the Inquiry Form below or email nysa@nysacreative.com to get the conversation started.

2. Depending on how much you share in the form, we'll either send you a proposal or reach out with additional questions. We may ask to visit your space to be able to properly quote the project and connect on your vision and goals.

3. With your green light of the proposal, a contract and invoice for the initial deposit will be shared to formally initiate the project.

4. Nysa Creative will design and present you with 2 - 3 original concepts for your review, selection, and feedback.

5. Together, we'll work through up to two rounds of revisions, if necessary, to land on the final design.

6. Nysa Creative will prep any logistics / materials and execute the mural.

7. The final invoice will be sent for payment.

Pricing

There are four main factors that impact the cost of a commissioned mural:

  • Size. A bigger mural costs more money.
  • Complexity. A simple happy face vs. the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
  • Materials. A bigger mural needs more materials. A mural on interior drywall needs different materials than one on outdoor concrete.
  • Access. A mural on the wall behind the receptionist is easy to access. A mural on the side of a building may require scaffolding or a lift.

For planning purposes, assume a total cost of $25-45 per square foot. Of course, you can drive that number higher with challenging locations, more complexity, or exotic materials.

All proposals will present a price range and will include detailed estimates of costs.

There is a $3,000 minimum on all commercial projects.

Below are two sample projects to provide further insight into how much your project may cost:

SAMPLE 1 | $6,750 | An indoor mural on drywall, simple design, 23' 7" wide x 13' 10" tall, minor wall obstacles (AC units and shelving), comes out to $26 per square foot

SAMPLE 2 | $16,600 | An outdoor mural on deeply grouted brick, simple design, 44' wide x 10' tall, comes out to $38 per square foot

Design

Creating the design for a mural is just as important of a process as painting the mural. Depending on the project, designing the mural may even take more time than the painting itself.

Here at Nysa Creative, we pride ourselves on thoughtful designs that bring your vision to life. For each project, we present 2 - 3 original concepts for us to adapt and evolve together.
